Root
Root is a game of adventure and war where 2 to 4 players battle for control of a vast wilderness. The nefarious Marquise de Cat has seized the great woodland, intent on harvesting its riches. Under her rule, the many creatures of the forest have banded together. This Alliance will seek to strengthen its resources and subvert the rule of Cats. In this effort, the Alliance may enlist the help of the wandering Vagabonds who are able to move through the more dangerous woodland paths. Though some may sympathize with the Alliance’s hopes and dreams, these wanderers are old enough to remember the great birds of prey who once controlled the woods. Meanwhile, at the edge of the region, the proud, squabbling Eyrie have found a new commander who they hope will lead their faction to resume their ancient birthright. The stage is set for a contest that will decide the fate of the great woodland. It is up to the players to decide which group will ultimately take root.

Root: The Underworld Expansion
Play as the Underground Duchy and sway your ministers to lead a righteous expedition to the Woodland, bringing order to the unending war and chaos above. Or play as the Corvid Conspiracy and use cunning and trickery to hold the Woodland hostage, instigating plots to seize control through terror. Play on the new mountain map, where you’ll trek across outcroppings, clear blocked routes, and hold the mountain pass to show you are an effective leader. Or play on the new lake map, where you’ll whisk yourself across the map by traveling on the ferry, meeting new friends and allies along the way. The Underworld Expansion includes even more screen-printed warriors for the two new factions, a new double-sided board with the lake and mountain maps, and hundreds of new faction configurations!

Root: The Clockwork Expansion allows players to square off against four fiendishly automated factions. Insert a faction to round out a low-player count game or team up for co-operative play! Compete against the: - Mechanical Marquise 2.0 - Dodge her marauding patrols as you try to stop her from completing her building tracks. - Electric Eyrie: Shore up the Woodland's defenses against this fearsome invader. If they go unchallenged, the Woodland will soon be flooded with their forces. - Automated Alliance - Police these radicals and raze their bases before a little uprising turns into a massive rebellion. - Vagabot - Hunt the dastardly Vagabot across the many clearings of the game or attempt to court him with items.
